Simon "Soni" Arthur Huckabone

  ​Simon “Soni” Arthur Huckabone, 90, of Sheffield, Warren County, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg, Ohio.  He was born March 16, 1927, in Highland, Elk County Pennsylvania, to the late Margaret (Thornton) and Simon Huckabone. 

     He is survived by his beloved daughter, Misty M. (Shaun Bice) Jurkiewicz  of Ashtabula, Ohio; two grandchildren: Trinity A. Zertuche and Isaiah J. Jurkiewicz; one sister: Vera Lane of Tennessee, along with many other family, friends and friends who became family.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Beausoleil and his companion, Margaret “Peggy” Marshall Boswell.

     After retiring as the Dog Warden, Simon spent most of his time outdoors, whether he was hunting, mowing his lawn or camping.  Many people got to enjoy “the campground down behind Simon's”.  He was known for his yard full of flowers, especially his prized dahlias. In addition to the outdoors he also loved dancing, singing and music. Some of his favorite artists were Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, not to mention big band orchestra and if it was a Sunday, polka would be playing on the radio all afternoon.  He also loved  playing cards, animal watching; especially deer in the back yard and cooking.  If you stopped by for a visit, you didn't leave without him offering you a drink and something to go with it.
