Robert Burton Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN – Robert Paul Burton, 58, of Youngstown, Ohio was called home Tuesday September 15, 2020.

Robert (Robbie) was born March 28, 1962, in Warren, Ohio to Lanny and Mary Ann Burton.  He grew up in Champion, Ohio where he attended elementary and middle school.  His family moved to the Youngstown area in 1976.  He was a 1980 graduate of Boardman High School, went on to become a Structural Ironworker and worked in Ohio and other locations across the country.   For a time, Rob also lived in Colorado and Nevada.

His family knew Rob for being “the Funny Guy.”  He loved to make people laugh by telling stories of his many life experiences.  He was told by many that he should be a stand-up comic.   His nieces and nephews knew him best for his tall tales.  Uncle Rob always had an off-the-wall tale to tell them: of a trip to the moon, how he performed some death defying stunt, or how he came to earth in an egg shaped spaceship just because he loved to see them chuckle but also because he loved to see them question whether he was really telling the truth.

Rob took great pride in getting those around him to smile.  He had a good, kind heart and never hesitated to offer help to those in need.   Although he was 58 years in age, he had a playful personality and was still a kid at heart.  His undeniable wit and charm will be deeply missed by the many who loved him.

He leaves behind his beloved family; brother, Michael K. (Victoria) Burton of Youngstown; sister, Kelly M. (Philip) Kilpatrick of Boardman and brother, John D. Burton, also of Boardman; nieces and nephews:  Kristen, Philip, Lanny Kate, Lanny Ross, John, Keegan, Jakey; his great-nephews, Parker and Hudson, as well as, a large extended family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He now joins in peaceful rest his parents, Lanny Ross Burton and Mary Ann (Smales) Burton.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
