Lowellville, OH - John (Sonny) A. Koletich, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 with his daughters by his side at Beeghly Oaks Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Boardman. He was born in Campbell, Ohio on June 13, 1939 to John M. Koletich Sr and Elizabeth Basich. He lived most of his life in Struthers, Ohio.  John is survived by his twin daughters, Kristy Boyles of Boardman and Misty (Quentin) Whitmyer of Canton, their mother Kathleen Koletich of Lowellville, and two grandsons, Jacob Boyles and Corvin Whitmyer.

He leaves two sisters, Frances (Tootsie) Koletich of Lowellville and Kathy Psimer of Cortland; four Godchildren, Norman (Jan) Macias, Mary (Bob) Connelly, Michael (Michelle) Macias, and Elizabeth (David) Green; and many great nieces and nephews.  John was preceded in death by his sister Anne Rotz (Howard) of Lowellville.

John was a proud veteran and honorably served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. He was also a longstanding member of the United Auto Workers Union and retired as an equipment operator at GM Lordstown in 2000. He enjoyed car shows, fishing, cards and board games, motorcycles, and visiting his family in Lowellville on Sundays. Many thanks to the compassionate staff at Beeghly Oaks for helping to care for John.  In lieu of a service, the family will make a donation in John’s honor to advance dementia research and treatment.
