It is with great sadness that the family of Eddie Boyd Sr. announces his passing after a long battle with cancer, on March 6, 2019.
Eddie was born on May 19, 1953 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Sallie Boyd. He graduated from East High School, and later served in the US Marines Corps from July 19, 1973 until July 30, 1976. Eddie’s occupation was a Heavy Tractor Trailer Operator, and he had a passion for automotive reconstruction. Eddie was also a member of a motorcycle club, Brothers of the Hammer.
He leaves behind seven children, Eddielena Boyd, Sallie Boyd-Velazquez (Daniel), Evita Smith (Ambrose) all of South Carolina; Eddie Roy Boyd Jr., Shelnik Boyd, James Boyd, all of Ohio; and Jasmine Battle of, Georgia. Eddie was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren Tariah, E’Knyah, Dante, Madriana, Joseph, Josiah, Jonathan, Isabella and Taheree. He has eight living sisters, Phyllis, Alberta, Joetta, Addie, Maggie, Mary Lou, Mattie and Joyce.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings: Willie Joe, Jesse, Mervin, John, Eleanor, a special sister-in-law, Delois Boyd, two nieces Irene, Sheila, two nephews Ronald, Michael, and two great nieces, Michaelyn and Ta Leshia.
A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on March 17, 2019 at The Lariccia Center in Boardman Ohio, 375 Boardman Poland Road. Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered at 4008 Southern Boulevard Boardman, Ohio 44512.
